Louisiana Wild Fruit Jelly
True flavors of Louisiana. We use all the wild fruits and berries of the South. Our Jellies are all made in small batches, one dishpan at a time. We use no preservative or corn syrup in any of our jellies.
Pineapple Marmalade This one is for all those who love pineapple. I am one of those. It has only pineapple, and pineapple juice with the zest of fresh Louisiana oranges. I am very pleased with it.
Raspberry Jelly Our Raspberry Jelly has a wonderfully tart raspberry flavor. We buy fresh frozen raspberries because they don't grow here in the south. It's a favorite of many. I love to melt it in the mirco wave and add it to a rice wine vinegar, for a great raspberry vinegarette
Blackberry Jelly We make a lot of our jellies with wild fruits and berries that grow here in our state of Louisiana. The blackberry jelly is one of them. I know you will be pleased with the flavor
Blueberry Jelly Our Blueberry Jelly is made from blueberries that are gathered at the orchid, in season . We bag them and put them in the freezer. That way we can take them out as needed and our jellies are always fresh. Enjoy it on a hot buttered biscuit, fresh french bread,or toast.
Mayhaw Jelly Mayhaw jelly is a rare delicacy made from the tart red fruit that grows in the low areas and swamps of north and central Louisiana. They grow on a small tree up to 20 feet with an upright form, with showy white blossoms in the early spring followed by clusters of small fruit resembling cranberries.
Muscadine Jelly Muscadines are wild grapes that grow in north and central Louisiana. We shake the vines that run up to the top of our large oak trees, gather the grapes, bag and freeze the them. We make the jelly as needed,so it is always fresh for you our customers.
Elderberry Jelly Elderberries are also wild. The grow from the fencerows, to the Interstate Highways in Louisiana and all over the U.S. Its an oldtimey jelly that you won't find every where. It is somewhere between muscadine and blueberry in flavor. Its a very tasty jelly and I know that you will like it.
Fig Preserves These fig preserves taste just like your grandma made them. We have about 40 fig trees planted and more to be planted this year. When it is time to pick,WE PICK,clean, destem, bag and freeze. We put up fig preserves all year long , so they are always fresh. This is one that if you ever order it, you will always reorder.
Muscadine Butter Muscadine is a wild grape. We gather them in season, which is in the fall, bag and freeze them. We make the muscadine butter,as we need it ,so it is always fresh.Butter is made by encorporating the inside of the grape,or the meat of the grape, into the jelly recipe. It has more texture and very tasty.
Orange Marmalade Our Marmalade is made from Louisiana satsumas. We do incorporate some of the peeling, which distinguishes it from a butter or preserves. It is my favorite on a hot peice of buttered toast. People who don't like marmalade , like ours.
Peach Jelly Delisiously fresh peachy taste, made from fresh, frozen peaches. We gather these ourself, clean, and freeze them.We make it as we need the peach jelly,so its always fresh.
Strawberry Jelly
Strawberry Fig Preserves
Wild Pear Jelly
Wild Plum Jelly |
Strawberry Jelly If you like strawberries, you will love this one.We use nothing but fresh frozen strawberries. We make it strong enough that there is no doubt ,IT'S STRAWBERRY!
Strawberry Fig Preserves This is an old recipe that people use to make when they had figs and no strawberries. Its made just like fig preserves, but with strawberry jello added. Over the years a lot of people have grown to love it and want their figs this way. It is wonderful on a hot buttered biscuit or toast.
Wild Pear Jelly This is one that you won't find on every shelf. If you like the flavor of pears, this one is for you.Great fresh pear taste, light, but definately pear.We gather these from wild trees. Its a small[about the size of a jacks ball]rough skinned pear. It's very strong in flavor and tartness.
Wild Plum Jelly This jelly taste is of a tart and tangy plum flavor. It reminds you of Grandma's house, because if your Grandma made jelly ,I'm sure she made plum. It's wonderful on a hot buttered buicuit, toast, or french bread. It also makes a great Plum Jelly Cake |
The Ole Homestead's minimum for shipping is six jars.Your order cannot be shipped unless you choose six jellies [any flavor jelly or pepper jelly] All of our jellies are in 12 ounce jars. |
